Software Engineering Director | Raytheon | Melbourne, FL
Job Description:
Engineering Director with strong systems programming and architecture
skills is needed for rapidly growing security company in the Melbourne,
Florida area (Indialantic, Florida). Join a high tempo, cutting edge
division of a worldwide technology company. This position will be
overseeing a software development staff and research team in Florida,
Maryland and Virginia.
What you will be doing:
- Reporting directly to the company president and working with the CTO
- Managing and overseeing a team (+125 people) of software developers and
security researchers
- Managing operations and being responsible for technical development,
systems design and architecture
- Participating in program review sessions
- Overseeing the planning, design, architecture, development,
implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of the company's
technologies and solutions
- Building, inspiring, and integrating a team of highly talented
developers
- Implementing mechanisms to measure quality, performance and
effectiveness of work processes
- Forecasting, developing and administering budget
- Being a visionary and evangelist

What you need to have:
- 14+ years of software development experience
- Ability to architect innovative solutions
- 5+ years experience in a director or senior manager role with
exceptional management skills and an ability to elicit creative
approaches to difficult problems
- 5+ years of hands-on development experience with low level systems
software (strong C/C++ programming background essential)
- Knowledge & experience in application development, systems design and
architecture, maintenance and support (full lifecycle methodology)
- Working knowledge of the Agile and Scrum methodologies
- Proven track record for product delivery, ability to meet deadlines,
develop project plans and must be results-oriented
- Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, startup type environment
- Ability to effectively manage QRC tasks and proposal development
- Ability to travel, as needed, between Florida, Virginia and Maryland
Qualified applicants may be subject to a security
investigation and must meet minimum qualifications for access to
classified information. U.S. Citizenship and an active Secret security
clearance are required.
Education:
Bachelors degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer
Science or related technical discipline. Advanced degree preferred.
